About the Item

A Flemish rustic tapestry from the late 18th century, featuring a “Vegetable Market” scene in the manner of David Teniers II, with vendors selling various vegetables in the foreground, a man on a soapbox in the background, and a series of quaint cottages in the left middle ground and distance. Enclosed by a trompe l’oeil frame border, incorporating various masks in the corners and at the center of each border panel, as well as a beaded outer guard border. Wool with silk inlay. Measures: 9’10” H x 8’3” W Hanging: The tapestry comes ready for hanging, with linen backing and a strip of hook and loop tape at the top end, which can be connected to the opposite side of the supplied hook and loop tape, which could be tacked to your wall. For those who prefer the use of a tapestry rod, we can add the appropriate size loops to accommodate your needs.
