This pair of rare 19th century large verdure tapestries, woven in the celebrated Aubusson workshops, illustrates the enduring appeal of nature-inspired decoration in French interiors. Executed in wool with soft, harmonious tones of green, ochre, rose, and pale blue, the two panels present complementary yet distinct compositions, designed to be displayed together as a decorative ensemble. One panel features a majestic heron standing gracefully by the edge of a stream, surrounded by abundant foliage, flowering plants, and with a charming country house visible in the background. The other panel depicts a duck captured in full flight above a richly detailed landscape, framed by large trees and dense vegetation.
