About the Item
A tapestry represents the power and glory of Ukrainian earth. We've been exploring our past to recover Ukrainian craft techniques and bring back protection of the environment. First of all, the wall tapestry Nenka (Mamma) is a symbol of fertility, guardian of a home, and an object of power. The tapestry is handmade and illustrates the essential resources of nature.
The whole concept of the tapestry is based on the parallels between the natural resources and the materials of our product. Ten different materials are used in the work and nature echoes in each of them. We've gathered everything that is inherent in our land and knit them together.
Black leather symbolizes black soil, woven straw - wheat fields, copper wire - an ore canyon from where copper ores are mined. Other levels symbolize the Odessa seas, forest, and sun.

RUDA Studio
RUDA is a multidisciplinary design studio, was founded by Oleksandra Rudenko and Yuriy Vovnyanko in Odesa, Ukraine. The main focus of the studio — space design and the creation of unique household items. During the creation process, we seek to make each project individual and special, focusing on feelings, custom items, and the combination of the historical and the modern. RUDA Studio researches folk artisans' techniques of our country of origin, we decided to bring traditional marquetry to contemporary use. "Our projects are about returning to the origins. We strive to restore the value of handicrafts and individual products. In our subjects we update the topics of conservation of the Earth's natural resources and human interaction with nature," says the studio's founder Oleksandra Rudenko.
