About the Item

The ‘Rød Høst’ tapestry, designed by Kirsten Gregers Jensen in 1968, is a striking example of her early exploration of form, rhythm, and color. A handwoven wool cloth tapestry featuring a geometric pattern in shades of red, grey, and bluish black, it reveals Jensen’s ability to balance expressive color with structural clarity. Created during a period when Jensen’s work embraced a more dynamic use of tone and contrast, ‘Rød Høst’ captures the atmosphere of the Nordic autumn through abstract geometry. The interplay between deep reds, muted greys, and dark bluish tones gives the piece a sense of warmth and quiet tension, merging modernist precision with emotional resonance. Kirsten Gregers Jensen (1928–1998) was a Norwegian-Danish tapestry artist and furniture architect known for her refined craftsmanship and modernist aesthetic. Trained in Trondheim and Copenhagen, she founded her own weaving studio in 1957 and exhibited widely throughout Scandinavia. Her works are represented in Designmuseum Danmark, the Ny Carlsberg Foundation, and the Danish Arts Foundation. Signed KGJ and labeled on the reverse, this tapestry is a unique work that reflects Jensen’s evolving artistic language, where geometry, texture, and color converge in a balanced and timeless composition. Signed KGJ. Back marked with label. Unique.

Considerable Large Handwoven Swedish Red Color Range Tapestry by Irma Kronlund
By Irma Kronlund
Located in Örebro, SE
This is the Swedish considerable large tapestry by Irma Kronlund, handwoven for Kronoberg Läns Hemslöjd, measuring majestic 90x56 in (229x142 cm). It comes in a beautifully color range in red and orange and this wonderful motif depicting a group with tall buildings. Irma Kronlund designed a lot of carpets, embroideries and tapestry by order of the church, so what we see here could represent church towers stretching towards the sky. It could very well be a unique wall hanging. Title unknown. This very rare vintage tapestry is signed KLH (Kronobergs Läns Hemslöjd...
