Introducing a Stunning Mid Century Aubusson Tapestry from French painter (jacques pinon 1927-2018)

We're delighted to present this exquisite Aubusson tapestry, meticulously crafted in Raymond Picaud workshop at Aubusson. This masterpiece features a captivating design by the renowned French artist, Jacques Pinon, whose name is elegantly inscribed at the bottom of the tapestry.
Jacques Pinon, 1927-2018 Montluçon. A true jack of all trades, like the artists of the Renaissance, painting, sculpture, stained glass, tapestry in Aubusson etc... He notably collaborated with Le Corbusier and Lucien Hervé for the stained glass windows of the church of Ste Thérèse, monumental frescoes or metal furniture.
He also designed contemporary tapestries in Aubusson in the workshops of R. Picaud where Calder, Aujame, Braque, Toffoli worked... with a beautiful meeting with Cocteau and his adopted son Lhermitte.
For painting: a major exhibition in Paris in 1954. “Jazz.Hot” alongside S. Dali, Courtaud, the Delaunays, Dubuffet, Duffy, F. Leger, Mondrian… whose influence can be felt in his work, Exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art – Salon of Sacred Art in 1960 in Paris – Fondation the Salomon– Guggenhem Museum in New York, Fondation Royaumont…etc…
