A 1930s English Art Deco floral basket carved wood polychrome decorated wall hanging or appliqué.
This very decorative hand carved wall hanging is fashioned as a gilded basket overflowing with with various coloured flowers and foliage. This works as either as a stand alone decorative hanging or to highlight another feature perhaps over a bed head or as an overdoor.
In good original condition - the polychrome decoration applied by hand over a gesso layer. The colours are bright and lively and the gilding with an attractive patina of age. The basket measures 46cm wide, 40cm high and 4cm deep. There is a hanging to the reverse and the weight of the carving means it can be hung on a standard picture hook.
