About the Item
19th Century French Ceramic and Brass Wall Sconce with Three-Arm Decorative Candle Holder. Sconce features a finely cast bronze frame with rich foliate ornamentation. The crest is topped with a detailed brass cherub mask, enhancing the classical character. At the center is a hand-painted porcelain plaque depicting a graceful woman draped in flowing blue and rose garments, surrounded by doves in flight, symbolizing beauty and harmony. The lower section supports a three-arm candle holder, each bobeche accented with faceted crystal drops that catch the light beautifully.
This sconce will add romantic and artistic accent to traditional, neoclassical, or French inspired interiors. It also blends beautifully into eclectic or bohemian spaces as a statement piece, offering a touch of old-world charm. Sconce has markings on reverse side of "Montereau L M
C" (when it was known as Creil et Montereau or Lebeuf, Milliet, &Cie, 1840 to 1876). a famous French pottery and ceramic maker founded in 1745.
