About the Item
Decorate a wall with this elegant pair of antique walnut corbels. Crafted in Southern France, circa 1860, each fruitwood wall bracket features a motif reminiscent of classical or Rococo-style ornamentation, often seen in 18th-century European interior decor. The scalloped, fan-shaped top resembles a stylized seashell, while the lower portion features elegant scrolls and acanthus leaves, adding to its baroque or neoclassical appeal. The top is shallow to accommodate a bouquet of flowers, or to add lighting and use them as wall sconces. These large wall brackets are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with wonderful craftsmanship, and adorn a rich silvered and gilt patinated finish. This type of sconces would be ideal for adding a touch of historic elegance to an interior space, especially in period-style homes or settings influenced by classic European aesthetics.
