About the Item
A beautiful antique French Provincial Louis X11 crowned porcupine with acorn and oak leaf border pewter wall plate. Louis XII adopted the porcupine as his emblem, with the motto: "Cominus et eminus, de près et de loin" - "Whoever rubs against it gets pricked," which stems from the belief, until the 19th century, that the porcupine could project its quills at its opponents. Dangerous, both near and far, then!
