About the Item

An intricately carved 19th century antique wooden wall panel depicting a mythical or biblical scene. It details what appears to be three mythological beings, possibly witches or sorceresses, attacking two soldiers dressed in armour on horseback. Originating from Germany, this panel includes an original exhibition label to the back which reads ‘Pyrmonter Schirmfabrik 1873’. This interesting and unusual antique panel is to be admired for its incredible quality of carving, the figures and surrounding scene still clear and defined after more than 150 years. A piece of mythological interest, it is ready for hanging in an interior, fitted with a wire to the reverse.
