About the Item

This life-size cast plaster head of a Pharaoh was made in the first quarter of the 20th century. While the discovery by Howard Carter of the undisturbed tomb of King Tut in 1922 certainly led to Egyptian fever, Egyptology and an interest in the Nile valley's culture has a history almost as long as that of Egypt its self. France and England have very old collections of artifacts and antiquities that span back to formidable collectors several hundred years ago and plaster casts of these items have been made for almost as long. This old casting is most likely from France and is in good shape with a fine patina and craquelure to the finished surface which gives the piece a certain patina that only adds to its visual appeal. Designed to hang and resemble an actual artifact the piece has a built-in device for this purpose and is easy to display.Condition Disclosure: While we do our best to carefully inspect and give a full report on the condition of any item we sell, pointing out any repairs or alterations that may have been done to the best of our knowledge, as is the case with any antique and vintage item, there is a possibility that at some point in the life of the piece that there may have been damaged which has been professionally repaired and as such a repair undetectable it is therefore impossible for us to disclose... we recommend that you also read and agree to the 1st dibs user agreement, particularly sections 9,13,15,18,19 and 27
