A very finely worked antique white statuary marble roundel depicting a profile portrait of a Roman figure in religious dress. Originating from mid 19th century Italy, this large marble roundel is to be celebrated for its intricate detail and craftsmanship, the figure wearing a cap atop his head and a robe embellished with an ornate trim. Spanning a 22 cm (8.6 inch) diameter, this roundel is of relatively large scale, making a stunning feature against a dark interior wall or mounted on a stand as a decorative display piece where its fine beauty can be observed and admired.
