About the Item

An old, Greek Roman terracotta plaque! It feels very Mediterranean with warm earthy terracotta hues layered against aged crisp-white oceanic blues. It’s a bit nautical without feeling like a theme, more than anything it feels inherited, old world. It has a great personality, it’s not too ornate or fussy, it's more rugged. The terracotta background has an aged, worn looking dark speckle throughout, its natural and organic looking. It has architectural, authentic, hand-crafted beauty, with a side profile of a Roman emperor, most likely Hadrian, an ancient Roman emperor from 117 to 138 CE. Its beautiful, aged crackle-glazed finish lends a great sense of antiquity and uniqueness. Framing the profile is a hand-painted Mediterranean blue white, circular wave like motif, with "ADRIANVS" inscribed at the top. Hadrian (officially named Publius Aelius Hadrianus) was also referred to as Adrianus; the “V” was often used as a “U” – therefore spelling Adrianus. Thick and heavy, it’s ready to hang with a bracket embedded on the back side. It’s a perfect design accessory for an outdoor covered cabana because it’s so stylish, relevant, and durable…and it has an outdoor palette, a great combination that is not easy to find! It could easily go in a bathroom or kitchen, areas that are also challenging when it comes to accessorizing, it can go anywhere really! These found, architectural, garden pieces are becoming more rare! We know, it’s hard to find, one-of-a-kind pieces!
