About the Item

A large 19th-century Italian wall plaque in cast plaster, dated circa 1860. Measuring 25 inches tall, the oval form frames a classical female profile in high relief, her features softened by time and a naturally weathered patina. The sculpted hair is rendered with lyrical movement, its carved strands flowing with soft rhythm. Rich in surface texture and scale, the piece evokes the quiet grandeur of neoclassical ornament—equally suited to a gallery wall or architectural vignette. Stamped 'Made in Italy'. Condition: This medallion remains sound, its centuries‑old plaster bearing the characteristic crazing and gentle flaking of an authentic architectural fragment. A small chip along the lower edge and patches of surface loss simply deepen its story of time spent in a villa or garden setting. There are no modern repairs; every crack and loss adds to its lived‑in charm. The iron loop is stable and the piece is ready to hang.
