Mid Century abstract expressionist wood carving by French American artist Jean-Claude Gaugy circa 1970s Modernist figures hand carved from a single panel and signed lower left 36 inch height 18.25 inch width 2 inch depth Jean-Claude Gaugy was born in France in 1944 His career started after being discovered by Salvador Dali and later shared a studio with Bernard Buffet and apprenticed under Henry Moore His work can be found in many prominent museums and private collections worldwide
