About the Item

A fine Mid-Century Modern sculpture. Depicting the outlines of a rotund female nude in a rectangular bronze plaque or tableau on a handcarved wooden mount. Signed Fane (LR) in the cast, likely Lawrence Fane (1933 - 2008). Lawrence Fane studied under George Demetrios and would eventually win the Prix de Rome in 1960. He taught briefly as RISD and at Queen's College in New York City. He had numerous one man exhibitons and his work is widely collected and held in both private public collections. Simply a wonderful Mid-Century bronze from an important American sculptor! Date: Mid-20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: With some light edge wear. Otherwise, there are some fine light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Measurements: Length: ca. 11 in.
