About the Item

A striking and competently carved pair of antique neoclassical carved cherubs. Crafted in oak, these neoclassical sculptures depict detailed handcarved faces of cherubs or putto supported by stylised wings. This pair can be celebrated for their sense of character as their facial expressions display a demeanour of unique eeriness. More than 170 years of age has instilled the wood with a timeworn stripped look. Their good scale and hanging hooks only add to these charming yet intriguing decorative sculptures, perfect for an interior wall display. Provenance: Ossowski, Pimlico Road, London.
