About the Item
Beautifully sculpted, cast, chased and finished, this pair of bronze mounts feature, in bold relief, two highlights from Greek and Roman mythology: Zeus, holding the fire that Prometheus had spirited to mankind, with the eagle who tortured Prometheus in the background; and Poseiden (or Neptune), riding a scallop shell, flanked by a merboy and two dolphins. Both panels have beautiful patinas, and are in excellent condition.
