Large Handcrafted Wooden Art Bowl by Rik Davids, Netherlands, 2001
A striking and unique handcrafted wooden bowl by Dutch artist Rik Davids, created in 2001. Measuring an impressive 55 cm (21.65 inches) in diameter, this sculptural piece is composed entirely of reclaimed wood, meticulously assembled and artistically detailed. The surface features an expressive patchwork of wooden segments, joined with industrial-style metal staples, showcasing visible wear, grain variation, and traces of original use—including subtle remnants of paint and printed text.
Both raw and refined, the bowl seamlessly blends utilitarian materiality with conceptual artistry. The reverse side reveals an intricate texture reminiscent of textile weaving, adding depth and visual intrigue.
Originally conceived as a functional object, the bowl also functions beautifully as wall-mounted art—ready to display as a bold, conversation-starting centerpiece or a sculptural wall object.
