Studio Pottery Face Plaque, Mid-20th Century
A compelling ceramic face plaque, likely mid-20th century, rendered in low relief with a quiet, introspective expression. The stylised features—broad lids, arched brows, and softly parted lips—emerge gently from the clay surface, framed by a simple square tablet form.
Finished in a greenish-brown glaze with areas of mottled oxidation and minor irregularities, the piece evokes both ancient and modern sensibilities—part votive, part sculptural study. Possibly intended as a mould, or simply as a contemplative object for display.
