An antique creamware wall hanging flower holder made In the mid 18th century. During that period flat backed wall hanging flower holders decorated the walls of well to do English homes. They were known as wall pockets and would have been filled with flowers from the garden or dried flowers. This one was press molded, made in the form of a flower face mask wearing a garland of leaves and branches and splashed in green and brown glazes. This combination of glazes is known as Whieidon* ware.
The back of the wall pocket is pierced for hanging.
Dimensions: 12 inches tall x 7.5 inches wide x 2.75" deep
