About the Item

A most unique and charming true pair of French 19th century Belle Epoque Period Louis XVI st. Ormolu and patinated Bronze cherub wall decor. Each stunning wall mounted statue of a seated Putti playing musical instruments is set on an exceptionally chased foliate Ormolu wall bracket. The L-shaped brackets are centered by an "oeil de boeuf" at the bottom leading up to a chandelle and three dimensional pierced Ormolu foliate scrolls. Wonderful palmettes and inverted acorn finials lead up to a circular seat and centered by a large rosette. Upon the seats are the patinated Bronze Putti playing cymbals and a tambourine while wearing a simple loincloth and floral sash. The sash drapes over their shoulders below their floral crowns while displaying joyous facial expressions.
