About the Item
Abstract composition by the Danish artist Svend Ritter (1916-2006). Signed on the reverse "Ritter 76". Beautiful and enigmatic wall relief of dark stained wood.
In his artistic career, Svend Ritter has mainly created sculptures in metal – bronze, iron sheets and scrap metal. Despite their abstract form, the works are often anecdotal and humorous. Svend Ritter has exhibited and worked together with artist colleagues Asger Jorn, Henry Heerup, Robert Jacobsen, Albert Merz, Jens Jørgen Thorsen and more. The Danish poet Jens August Schade wrote about him: "He possesses the courage for sweet madness".
