About the Item

An endearing, wood-carved wall sculpture by William Westenhaver depicting a young boy reading a book. It is made of very grainy wood enhanced on some parts with black, pastel red, blue, and yellow. William Westenhaver was a painter, cartoonist, artisan, and graphic designer, most notable for collaborating with his cousin, who owned a Tiki Design Company. William, an alumnus of the Art Center School of Design in Los Angeles, was a painter who modern painters like Picasso greatly influenced. But when he started working in the Tiki business, he discovered a passion for carving wood.
