"Congresso" shelf by Lips Vago, white lacquered steel, Italy, 1960s.Made of sheet steel, the "Congresso" double shelf is a sturdy and discreet bookcase, usable from both sides, making it a versatile piece of furniture for any space. The metal plates at its ends are positioned upwards and also serve as bookends. This shelf is a creation of Lips Vago, the result of a merger between the Italian forge Vago and the Dutch locker manufacturer Lips, whose models were designed for archives and libraries, like this one. Its success was such that it received the Smau Industrial Design Award in 1968.
