The Details...
This bangle is constructed from black Bakelite and yellow resin. It is accented with two bands of brass at the top and bottom of the bangle. The internal diameter of this bangle is 6.5cm, making the internal circumference 20.4cm.
A Short History...
This bangle is made from the thermoset plastic Bakelite used popularly in jewellery manufacture from the 1910s through to the 1940s. It has been proven to be Bakelite through testing. It is evocative of the wartime era, when manufacture of luxury items, such as jewellery, could only really be achieved through the use of cheap, man-made materials.
