About the Item
This is a very rare and wonderful antique Victorian Coiled Snake Bracelet with beautiful Bohemian Garnets set in the head and eyes dating to circa 1830-1870. The bangle bracelet is gold filled. Designed as three articulated sections, the bangle opens to fit over the wrist. The dramatic head of the snake is adorned with beautiful Bohemian Garnets. The head is further adorned with exquisite chased and engraved gold work. The snake's mouth is open and its wonderful forked tongue extends from the mouth. This Museum Quality jewel is magnificent.
It is extremely rare to find these early snake jewels and we are so excited when we do! And snake jewelry is all the rage today. In the Victorian era the snake was the symbol of eternal love. It has come to symbolize sexuality, rebirth, wisdom and love.
The bracelet opens to fit over the wrist and is adjustable in size. The interior circumference can range from 6.5 inches to 7.5 inches. The head is 1/2 inch wide.
