About the Item
A very rare and wonderful antique Victorian Diamond and Persian Turquoise Double Snake Bracelet in 9 Karat Gold. The Victorian bracelet with two entwined snakes is set with four Old Mine Cut Diamonds in the eyes along with two Persian Turquoise cabochons in flower motifs on either side of the snakes. The snakes with beautiful repousse engraved details. The snakes are a wonderful size and I just love the design of their entwined bodies with the Persian Turquoise centered flowers on either side. The bracelet dates to the Victorian period, circa 1850-1890.
It is extremely rare to find these early snake jewels and we are so excited when we do! And snake jewelry is all the rage today. In the Victorian era the snake was the symbol of eternal love. It has come to symbolize sexuality, rebirth, wisdom and love.
The interior of the bracelet is 6 3/4 inches. The bracelet opens to fit over the wrist and it has a safety chain.
The snake portion is approximately 5/8 inch (16mm) wide.
The bracelet is 9 Karat Gold.
The bracelet weighs 14.3 grams.
There has been some restoration of one of the snakes in the portion below the head. There is also some minor denting throughout the bangle. Please review the photographs for these condition issues. We believe these add to the antique nature of the bracelet.
