Iyun Coral Sterling Silver bracelet bangle by Zuri Perle Inspired by the grooved brain coral (Diploria labyrinthiformis) this handcrafted bracelet is a symbol of the death occurring in the coral reefs worldwide and the replanting efforts by various individuals and organizations to restore the coral reefs to new glory. It is also symbolic of the brokenness we feel as humans due to the direct or indirect actions of other individuals and the beauty that results from taking time out to nurture and care for one another. Bracelet Diameter 64mm, Height 10mm, thickness 2.5mm approx. Designed and handcrafted in our Studio in Texas, U.S.A. My name is Atinuke Adeleke and I am the Owner and Lead Designer at Zuri Perle. I moved to the United States in 2009 to be with my husband, pregnant and unable to work due to my visa status, I stumbled upon jewelry making as a means to supplement my family income. I took my first jewelry making class during one of my trips back to Nigeria and fell in love with the process of handcrafting wearable artisan pieces. I initially created the brand to cater to African brides and grooms looking for traditional African jewelry here in the United States, but I have since expanded the brand to incorporate a balance of my Nigerian traditional aesthetic and western experience, which includes CAD and 3D printing. Also inspired by people and the hybridization of cultures. I pull from my Nigerian culture of using jewelry as a form of art, adornment and clothing to create limited edition jewelry and accessories currently pursuing a Masters in Studio Art at the University of North Texas. I am an alumni of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG). All pieces are handcrafted in my Studio in Dallas, Texas and my mission is to provide you with African inspired accessories that you will proudly wear for years to come. I strive to exceed my clients expectations in quality and service and I look forward to serving you A percentage of the proceeds, from the sale of pieces from the “IYUN” collection, will be donated to help in the replanting efforts of the Florida reef tract. -- This piece is part of the NYCJW HERE WE ARE Marketplace. Each jeweler and artist chosen to be a part of HWA 2021 has created a business that presents a well-crafted collection or body of work, a unique vision and a dedication to the work. HWA serves to provide a platform for visibility, business growth and connections for the jewelers involved and is focused on the pursuit of equity within the jewelry industry.
