About the Item
Fine carved jade bangles for men are few and far between. It often takes me over a year to source (or commission) a man-sized bangle, and in this case, it was well worth the weight. Hand-carved from 100% natural and untreated nephrite jade. This "Haitian Jade" comes from the mountains in Northern China. A brilliant lapidary artist has carved from this rare natural stone a substantial bangle -measuring 94.3mm from edge to edge and 20.4mm thick. The inner diameter is 75mm, so it will fit medium and large hands. Please see the last image for instructions on measuring your hand for a proper bangle fit.
This yellowish-gray nephrite is highly translucent and has a beautiful polish. It is so highly translucent that when you slide it over your fingers, you can see them as shadows through the jade. The surface of the bangle has been intricately carved with a repeating pattern composed of one of China's most ancient and enduring symbols: the ruyi. The symbol has come to be associated with prosperity and good fortune. Ruyi is a stylized representation of the Reishi mushroom. I've photographed the bangle in many different levels of light, so you can see how luminous it is at all times, so matter how bright or dim the environment.
The bangle is new. As expected there are tool marks here and there. I mention this because intricately worked bangles like this always have tool marks. These are not chips.
This large and spectacular bangle ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating that the jade is untreated nephrite.
