About the Item
In the oldest depictions, the dragon is holding the sun - a red, flaming ball. The pursuant movements of 'Dragons Chasing the Pearl' symbolizes that the dragons are continually in pursuit of wisdom. The flaming pearl is known to be a symbol of good luck, prosperity, wisdom and truth. The symbolism of the pearl is important in both Taoism and Buddhism - in the latter the ‘sacred pearl’ is the jewel in the lotus, a jewel that grants all wishes.
This mid-century natural untreated hand carved nephrite jade bangle is opaque and very dark green in color. It is almost black with brownish mottled parts. Deep green jade is associated with the kidney and liver meridians, with Qi energy for protection, assertiveness and clearing negativity.
This bangle is in very good condition. We have recently had the bracelet examined for its authenticity by the Netherlands Gemstone Laboratory and there is no indication of impregnation. The report will be provided with your purchase. The bangle measures 81 mm outer diameter, width 20 mm and thickness 7 to 9.5 mm. The bangle weighs 83.12 grams.
