Fabulous pair of antique French Rose cut and European cut diamond 18K rose gold and silver topped gold bracelets, the diamonds 4.45 TCW, in an early Marcus
Co. leather silk lined box, marked Jaques
Marcus. Marcus
Co. began as a partnership with George B. Jaques as Jaques
Marcus in Union Square, New York City. Jaques retired in 1892 and the business changed its name to Marcus
Co. thereafter. The company had ties with French jewelry designers- the French miniature portraitist Fernand Paillet designed a pendant for them and it is likely that they retailed French pieces in their New York City showroom.
Metropolitan Museum of Art has a Jaques
Marcus insect form brooch in their collection, marked J&M on the hook and lists the firm as being active from about 1882 to 1892. The MMA brooch is together with its original case which has the same insignia as the case of this pair of bracelets. Accession Number:2001.246, on view at Met Fifth Avenue, Gallery 706.
The two bracelets are from the same time period and complement each other. In both cases, the diamonds are set in silver topped 18K gold. One bracelet is slightly larger than the other so that the two can be worn together on the same arm- please see photographs on model for illustration. Both are marked with French eagle hallmarks for 18K gold. The safety chains on both are later.

Bracelet Toi et Moi- 2.50TCW- .80 ct European cut diamonds and 1.7ct rose cut diamonds
Bracelet with 3 large diamonds- 1.95 TCW- .75ct European cut diamonds and 1.2ct Rose cut diamonds
Size: The Toi et Moi bracelet fits a 6.5 inch wrist. The bracelet with 3 larger diamonds fits a 6 inch wrist.
Condition: Both bracelets are in very good condition. The clasps are secure and work well. All diamonds are original and intact. Light age appropriate surface wear to the gold and a minute indentation on the side of the bracelet with three larger diamonds.
The romantic design of these bracelets transcends time. Three central diamonds, symbolizing yesterday, today and tomorrow, are emblematic of everlasting love. The double Toi et Moi motif represents love and unity.
