Such an elegant diamond bangle would not be out of place at an event during the late 19th century where the dress code was white tie—arguably the most formal in traditional evening Western dress codes. The thought of how many rules of etiquette one had to follow at that time would make a person giddy. For women, the proper outfit consisted of a full-length ball or evening gown with evening gloves, occasional tiaras, and a small handbag. We can imagine this sparkling bracelet on a gloved arm, to create a proper and elegant look that was acceptable of the time.
Tinged with moments of retro glamour, this stately Diamond Checker Cuff Bracelet is a contemporary revival, crafted in 2020. The design has the dazzling impact of a tiara as one enters the room, although meant to adorn the arm. The bangle crafted in 18K white gold decorated with delicate openwork and features 229 diamonds—both round brilliant-cuts with baguettes, weighing approximately 4.47 carats of F-G colors and VS-SI clarity. Nine graduated motifs are composed of “floating” baguettes with diamond halos that alternate with single rounds set in prongs, peppered with open negative space throughout. Two delicate borders of round diamonds decorate the edges half-way around.
Spectra Fine Jewelry shows off their fine artisanship and references the stark elegance of the Art Deco period with this simple graduated geometric composition. As with all Spectra Fine Jewelry pieces, a glimpse at the reverse side of the piece reveals the beautifully crafted supporting structure, and the house’s innovative jewelry-making savoir faire that approaches the artistry and execution of some of the finest French Maisons.
Measures approx. 2.36” (6 cm) in diameter. 229 diamonds with the total diamond weight of 4.47 carats, F-G colors, VS-SI clarity. Overall weight approx. 16.84 grams, made in 18k white gold; circa 2019.
