About the Item

A magnificent enameled locket bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in vibrant 18kt gold, this fantastic piece portrays the 3-dimensional repousse face of a fierce, snarling tiger at the center, which also acts as a locket. Luscious hand-painted enameled accents cover the surface, creating an exceptionally detailed appearance. Rich black stripes and whiskers give the illusion of depth, and coppery red accents are painted across the tongue and nostrils. Clenched within the tiger's open mouth is a sparkling 0.20ct old Mine Cut diamond, which is prong set between pointed gold fangs and two additional diamonds represent each of the tiger's twinkling eyes. The tiger locket is hinged at the bottom and opens at the top providing you an option to personalize it with a special photograph. Accenting the tiger head on the shoulders of the bangle are graduated, applied beads which lead into a gorgeous fleur-de-lis inspired design. The band of the bangle is comprised of dual tubes and a push clasp is incorporated into the design, seamlessly hidden on the side. The outstanding bangle is a true work of art, and would make quite an impressive addition to any antique jewelry collection! This lovely bangle would look great worn alone or layered with other bracelets! The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 1/2" wide and approximately 2" tall. The band surface width is approximately 1/4" wide and the tiger locket measures approximately 1 1/8" tall, 1 1/8" wide and has a depth of 5/8". The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting and all stones are intact. The locket face, clasp and hinges are all secure and in good working condition. Amazingly, the enameling is in near pristine condition with only very minimal surface wear at the tips of the ears.
