A flexible bracelet designed by Yukihiro Shibata.
This is a wonderful bangle bracelet created by Yukihiro Shibata, back in the 1980's. Masterfully crafted in solid .950/.999 sterling silver with a delicate brushed finish and accented with gold vermeil. The amazing bracelet is a one-of-a-kind piece of art composed by sixteen opposites chunky links attached together by two concealed invisibles wires. The bracelet is fitted with a screw for locking purpose which gives the feeling of continuity
Yukihiro Shibata
He is a Japanese-American designer. The given name is SHIBATA Yukihiro. 1976 Graduated from Musashino Art University, majoring in Industrial Design. 1980. He started his career as an art jewelry designer at Manhattan, New York. His jewelry was on the covers of fashion magazines such as Vogue, ELLE, and also used in TV commercials of Revlon and L'Oréal. Yukihiro Shibata specializes in contemporary and modernist jewelry. His work has been featured in galleries and museums: for example, his artist profile indicates that his work was included in the exhibition “Open Close Front Back: Exploring Contemporary Art Jewelry Design” at the Racine Art Museum (Wisconsin, USA). His jewelry work is based on sterling silver (.925) and also vermeil (gold-plated silver) in sculptural pieces. His style is distinctly modernist/sculptural: for example, a bracelet called “Swan” is described as “dramatic… abstract form” in vermeil.
