About the Item
This antique 19th century coral children's bracelet is made with a 14 karat gold clasp. The beautiful ornate oval-shaped clasp is made of fine filigree and cannetille work, the craftsmanship is stunning. The center of the clasp is adorned with a large oval-shaped cabochon cut coral stone. The bracelet has four strands, attached with two gold caps to the clasp. The bracelet is provided with a gold safety chain.
In the 16th century, the traditional costume was created in the Netherlands, including jewelry made of coral, which lasted until the 20th century. These types of jewels represent a varied and rich historical Dutch cultural heritage, worn by women and children in some parts of the Netherlands.
The portret of the child is Catharina Elisabeth Rente Linsen, in 1831. The painting is from the collection of the Dutch Teylers Museum in the Netherlands.
The bracelet is in very good condition and of high quality. Marked and tested as 14 karat gold.
