This gorgeous 8" beaded stretch bracelet is composed of 18 exceedingly fine quality and nearly "imperial" green Hetian nephrite jade beads from South-Western Xinjiang, China. For thousands of years, nephrite jade from this region of China has been considered the finest nephrite in the world. Each 9.55mm bead is evenly toned, luminous and translucent. A pair of handmade silver beads reside beside the larger of the two intricately and delicately carved argarwood beads. This rare, fragrant wood is also known as oud, and has been a featured ingredient in some of the world's most prized perfumes. The finest specimens sell for over $100,00 a pound.
The bracelet measures 8" in length and an un-stretched diameter of 61mm, so it will fit medium and larger wrists with ease. It's so comfortable to wear alone, or stacked with other bracelets. It's made for anyone of any gender, but would not be the best choice for an individual with very small hands *smaller than 61mm from knuckle to knuckle).
This is no flimsy stretch bracelet like others you've come across. You'll appreciate the quality of this piece the moment you take it out of the box. It's a step (or three) up from stretch bracelets you've seen elsewhere.
With this particular bracelet, I used two incredibly durable elastic cords, not one. This is a durable bracelet you can wear and enjoy, without having to worry about. Because of the wood accent beads, you might want to apply a light natural wax now and then. (industry insider secret: many lapidary artists use Lemon Pledge as a finishing touch and this would also help protect the wood.) The oxidized silver beads will only grow more beautiful over time.
I create each jade beaded bracelet by hand, using natural and untreated Grade A jadeite jade or nephrite jade. Although I'm not including lab certificates with these bracelets to keep the cost down, all of the jade I'm using comes from my vast personal inventory of beads, all from trusted sources I have developed over many years. Beads from each source have been previously tested by a gem lab and determined to be natural and untreated. I am a gemologist with advanced training in jade as well as a second-generation jade collector. And I have sold hundreds of thousands of dollar's worth of the finest jade jewelry right here on 1stdibs since my store opened. I am a platinum seller with 100% 5-star reviews and many of my customers come back again and again.
The only treatment any of the jade I sell has undergone is a paraffin waxing. Jade has been waxed for thousands of years.
