Duchess of Windsor Jeweled Gold Cross Replica Charm Bracelet

About the Item

A charming replica of Wallace Simpson's, the Duchess of Windsor's, 1936 Cartier gold and jeweled cross charm bracelet by American fashion jewelry company Carolee. This pieces is gold plate with Swarovski rhinestones and an oval plaque inscribed Carolee. Each jeweled crosses is .5 of an inch wide and .75 of an inch tall. Additionally, each has the same inscription on the back as the original bracelet. The bracelet is 7 inches long. The jeweled crosses were special occasion gifts to Wallis Simpson to add to her bracelet. There are 7 cross charms. The first cross given to Wallace is without stones. There rest were given on special occasions and set with emerald cut gem stones and inscribed on the back with a saying and date from the Duke. For example, the first one was given to Mrs. Simpson in November, 1934. Inscribed 'WE are too (sic) 25-XI-34', this is actually the only cross which is not set with gemstones. Made entirely of platinum, the cross's message alludes to the passionate feelings which had blossomed between the two of them. The date is rather significant, being that four days later, on November 29, 1934, Prince Edward's brother, George, would marry Princess Marina of Greece, at Westminster Abbey. The gift declared, "WE (Wallis + Edward) are also in love, and though we can't now tell the world, WE can make a declaration to each other." emerald cut Swarovski crystals were set into the goldtone bracelet, representing the real jewels of diamond, amethyst, ruby, emerald, amber and sapphire, and one unadorned gold or platinum cross.On the real bracelet, there was an inscription or phrase on the back of each cross usually denoting the event and/or date, and this bracelet has those inscriptions on the backs as well. (For example, on the amber cross it says "Get Well Wallis September 1944 David")7 " in length.
