The Details...
This hinged cuff is constructed from marbled green Bakelite. It is detailed with 4 gilded metal bands. The internal diameter of this cuff is 6cm, making the internal circumference 18.8cm.
A Short History...
This cuff is made from the thermoset plastic Bakelite used popularly in jewellery manufacture from the 1910s through to the 1940s. It has been proven to be Bakelite through testing. It is evocative of the wartime era, when manufacture of luxury items, such as jewellery, could only really be achieved through the use of cheap, man-made materials.
