About the Item

A stunning enamelled bracelet , handmade by Jacques Gautier, in a most striking and unusual colour, set in silver plated bronze, from the 1960s. With softly domed panels in a mirrored lilac enamel, with deep purple specks within the enamel, giving it a richness and depth. A true collector's piece, and very wearable, as are all Gautier's pieces, such a timeless look. A matching pendant has also been listed this week. This bracelet comes with its original box. Jacques Gautier was a true artist of artisan jewellery. The discovery of Renaissance ceramics and enamels proved to be an epiphany, leading him to develop his own enamelling techniques, reinterpreting the practices of the past in his own personal style. The translucency of the enamel, the inclusions in the glass, with the effect of the silvered backing all gave an inimitable resonance to his jewels, made throughout the 1960s in France. He created pieces for Christian Dior, Nina Ricci, Pierre Cardin and Paco Rabanne amongst others.
