About the Item
In 1981 Robert Lee Morris won the Coty award for his jewelry collection for Calvin Klein and woke the fashion industry up to his high energy presence. He introduced an entirely new color pallet for fashion jewelry by mixing green verdigris, ruddy red copper, matte 24k gold and blackened brass, for a collection the Calvin produced based on the colors and patterns of the Maasai tribe in Africa.
This cuff is part of the collection and was made by taking a wax impression of a Japanese basket and casting it into a pure copper cuff. Then through heart and polishing, the copper oxide is formed that is a permanently deep ruddy red finish. The warmth and coloration of this piece is the essence of Wabi Sabi.
