Sigurd Persson : a rare gold modernist cuff bracelet
Rigid, open bangle with openwork geometric decoration in 18ct gold. Stockholm 1963.
Executed by the goldsmith Johann Wist.
Sigurd Persson (Sweden 1914–2003) was a prominent Swedish designer and silversmith known for his innovative work in jewelry and functional art. In 1959, he was commissioned by Nordiska Kompaniet to create a jewelry collection, resulting in “77 Rings,” launched in 1960. The collection was a radical success, gaining international attention, including an exhibition at Liberty’s in London. Following this, Persson designed “7×7 Bracelets” in 1963, dedicated to strong women, and later released collections of earrings and necklaces. These works cemented his reputation as a pioneer and leading figure in modern jewelry design.A key figure in Scandinavian design, his work remains highly collectible today.
