About the Item

A rare example of a Victorian Silver Cuff with an attached plaque of a hand painted orange blue and brown butterfly about to land on a spray of flowers. The butterfly has company as a bee is attracted to the same spray.. Made c. 1860-1880, the cuff is in excellent condition. Other than the decorative plaque it is plain with fine twisted wire borders. Butterflies are known to be elegant and graceful. They symbolize the soul. In Victorian times they were a symbol of transformation which was a metaphor for personal growth rebirth of the spirit. If your soul is respectful of nature, save this butterfly from extinction by caring for it. Size 6 to 6 1/4. 2 3/8 inner dimension. height 1 1 /4 in
