About the Item
An exceptional Navajo cuff bracelet by renowned silversmith Jessie Claw, crafted in solid sterling silver and set with five striking high-grade Kingman turquoise cabochons. Weighing a substantial 79 grams, this vintage piece exemplifies the strength and elegance of late-1970s Navajo jewelry design.
Each turquoise stone displays a vibrant sky-blue hue with warm golden-brown matrix — the hallmark of fine vintage Kingman material. The stones are bezel set in a classic Navajo design with raindrop appliqué and a triple-split shank adorned with hand-stamped details. The cuff retains its original, rich patina, enhancing its authenticity and collectible appeal.
This is a signed “JC” example by Jessie Claw, a highly respected Navajo artist whose pieces are sought after by collectors and turquoise connoisseurs worldwide.
The bracelet is set with five large cabochons of bright sky-blue turquoise exhibiting warm golden-brown matrix consistent with Kingman Mine material from Arizona. Under magnification, the stones display minor surface texture and slight natural pitting typical of minimally processed turquoise. The polish is smooth but not glassy, and there is no evidence of resin impregnation or dye, which are hallmarks of heavy stabilization.
Based on these visual characteristics, the turquoise is assessed as high-grade Kingman, likely natural or minimally stabilized for durability — consistent with the materials used by Navajo silversmiths during the late 1970s to early 1980s.
The stones are set in heavy sterling silver with traditional Navajo raindrop appliqué, and the cuff is signed “JC” for Jessie Claw. Total silver weight is approximately 79 grams.
This assessment was made by visual and tactile examination under magnification by a Certified Professional Gemologist. No destructive or advanced laboratory testing has been performed.

Silver Ring American, Circa 1920s
Located in Northampton, MA
This sleek, graphic turquoise and silver ring was created near the 1920s, and is consistent in design, quality, and materials to rings created by the Zuni nation; however the ring is not signed. And therefore, it cannot be sold as "Native American."
Some people prefer to retain the "patina" almost always encountered on rings created by Native Americans. But this has always puzzled me. When Queen Elizabeth toured Africa and wore her favorite diamond crown, that crown was thoroughly cleaned and polished. I don't recall ever seeing Frank Ghery or Elsa Peretti or Paloma Picasso silver jewelry...

Chalcedony Bracelet, Arts
Crafts Style Circa 1970s
Located in Northampton, MA
This luminous blue and grayish-blue chalcedony bracelet was created in the Arts & Crafts style though it dates to a later era; probably the 1970s. This one-of-a-kind bracelet was completely handmade using natural highly translucent chalcedony gems that range in tone from faint blue to rich periwinkle. At 141 grams, it's a satisfyingly substantial bracelet that will not get lost on your arm.
The central flower-shaped arrangement is composed of one round 21mm chalcedony cabochon surrounded by eight oval and pear-shaped stones, along with two large 20mm x 17mm pear-shaped cabochons north and south. This collection of stones are soldered together as one piece that is curved to follow the arch of your wrist. On either side of this central design element are nine chalcedony cabochons, each bezel set and joined by hand-formed links. The links terminate on both ends at a row of 5 stones: two round, three ovals. The bracelet closes securely with a box clasp and safety latch. Because the central portion of this very large bracelet is fused, it's not a sloppy piece; the gems don't spin around on your wrist and become tangled. It retains its form and only the stones on the sides that are linked by chain can move freely. It's a clever design.
The bracelet measures 7 ½ in length and is 3 ¾ wide. So it should fit many but the largest wrists. The bracelet is marked 925 for the silver and has an unknown maker's mark I cannot identify.
Gorgeous, unique, and featuring the most distinctive blue in the gem world, this vintage chalcedony...
