About the Item
18 Karat Yellow Gold Minoan-Inspired Basket Link Bracelet by ROMAE Jewelry. This stunning bracelet is inspired by a Minoan gold example from the area of Knossos, Crete, dating to around 1450 BC. It is made up of small links that are basket-shaped, with gorgeous highlights in the form of tiny spheres lining the different levels. We know from Minoan imagery, particularly fresco painting, that females often gathered flowers - particularly Crocus flowers, in their efforts to collect precious saffron. The ancient miniature gold baskets may have been direct references to this prestigious activity. Many examples of jewelry featuring the baskets linked together to form magnificent necklaces and bracelets have been found; a testament that they were beloved by the women of this culture. Our bracelet is available in sizes (wrist circumference) 6.5" (16 cm), 7" (18 cm), 7.5" (19 cm), 8" (20.3 cm), and 8.5" (21.5 cm).
Each piece of ROMAE jewelry is inspired by an ancient example, and is carefully designed and lovingly crafted in Rome by archaeologist and museum specialist Cris and artist Elena. Our pieces are made to order, and each is individually cast, hand finished and personalized, which allows for freedom of stone choice and special tailoring such as inscriptions and engravings. When shipped, each piece of Romae jewelry arrives with a product card that provides information about the culture, date, and find spot of the original piece of jewelry that inspired our design.
