About the Item
This extraordinary substantial silver pietra dura bracelet was created around 1870/1880 ca. in Florence.
Pietra dura inlay work has been a speciality of Florentine workshops for centuries and very popular with Grand Tour visitors to the city.
The bracelet is made up from five rectangular pietra dura plaques and one silver rectangle with ligated engraved initials EAC. The pietra dura plaques are made up from basalt stone with inlaid malachite and different kinds of agate. All stones have been highly polished to achieve a smooth and even surface. Each plaque depicts a different flower, we can make out roses, snowdrops, and lilies among others.
The length measured is without the silver tongue of the clasp.
