About the Item
This rare and unusual pair of bracelets was hand crafted at the very beginning of the 19th century out of 18 carat gold.
The two bracelets can be joined together to be worn as a necklace. The bracelets are set with 10 intaglios carved out of a variety of different agates. One intaglio is a glass cast. The earliest intaglio dates from 1st century BC, the latest from late 18th century/early 19th century.

2. oval agate gazelle in profile, Saracen, 4th/5th century AD
3. oval carnelian striding Athena carrying a lance on her shoulder, at the height of her knee a snake, 1st/2ndcentury AD
4. oval brown agate Hercules sitting on a chair, his son Telephos on his knees with a dog on his knees, carrying his club on his shoulder, 17th century, possibly reign of Augustus
5. oval carnelian Hermes sitting on a rock, with Chlamis (coat) and Kerklion (rod) in one hand and holding a purse in the other hand, on one side we see a goat, one the other side behind the rock we see a turtle, 1st/2nd century AD
6. oval carnelian of Nike in profile with small wings on her back holding a palm branch in front of her chest, 1st century AD
7. oval carnelian head with helmet, 18th/19th century
