About the Item
This exeptional link bracelet has been hand crafted in an Italien workshop in the first quarter of the nineteenth centuy. The exquisitely carved lava cameos depict motives from excavation sites in the Campagna, mostly from Pompei. The oval profile of the medusa with her head turned to the left shows her with her eyes closed. The gold mount of the head is also the clasp of the bracelet which is made up from five Ionic colums and twelve smaller carvings of theatre masks. Sixteen different colours of lava have been used to make up this fine piece of jewellery. The colums and the theatre masks are held together by gold links. On the tongue of the clasp we see a hallmarked, yet to be identified.
