About the Item
A Victorian diamond, pearl, enamel, and yellow gold bracelet, comprising one old mine cut diamond, seven pearls, set in 18 karat yellow gold, adorned with blue enamel.
This beautiful Victorian bracelet is set to the centre with an old mine cut diamond, held within a simple bezel setting. The sparkling diamond is surrounded by a cluster of 5 pale, shimmering pearls, similarly set, creating a beautiful pansy motif (pansies were symbolic of love in the Victorian era). Elegant foliate engraved motifs hold the central motif aloft, giving way to graceful guilloche enamel scrolls, adorned with striking cobalt blue. A further pair of lustrous pearls complete the gem-set portion of the bracelet, nestled between foliate engraved swags. The bracelet itself is formed as two rows of fully articulated snake-like links, complete with Etruscan revival gold beading connecting the two. The bracelet is complete with a secure box clasp, adorned with attractive engraving echoed across the bracelet, and secured further with a safety catch. The clasp is complete with a registration mark, giving information about when the bracelet was made. The bracelet features a locket back, which does not appear to be openable. There are the remains of a pair of hinges to the back of the bracelet, suggesting there would have been a door-like opening when it was made, which has since been replaced with the static locket panel, which is in line with the small amount of discolouration where this new piece has been joined. The bracelet is in bracelet is in great condition. The pearls have minimal wear, with small losses to the enamel, in line with the age of the piece. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
