About the Item
This iconic Pineda hand-wrought sterling silver bracelet is called the "thumbprint" design. It is one of Pineda's most sought after designs, and is comprised of 14 links each individually attached by hinges. This remarkable piece closes with a secure tongue and groove closure with the added protection of a safety chain, original to the piece. In good condition, it measures 7" x 1" x 1/2" and weighs 6oz (150 grams). Marked with Antonio Taxco crown, 925 Mexico.
Antoñio Pineda (1919-2009), was an internationally renowned Mexican Modernist silversmith praised for his bold, striking designs. He studied painting and sculpture as a child, and apprenticed at William Spratling's Taller de Las Delicias before founding his own workshop in 1941.
